The benefits a chiropractor brings to sports training

Getting enough exercise is a very important part of leading a healthy, balanced lifestyle in the modern age.

It’s widely recommended that people get at least thirty minutes of exercise each day to see a beneficial effect on their bodies, minds and general wellbeing.

And as people get older, this becomes even more important, with exercises like lifting weights becoming vital for maintaining muscle mass and encouraging healthy joints.

To stay active, it’s important people warm up properly before exercise and stretch afterwards, ensuring they minimise their risk of injury.

But there’s another way people can ensure their exercise regime runs smoothly – seeing a chiropractor.

Chiropractors and sport

Seeing a chiropractor as part of a regular exercise regimen can be very beneficial, allowing people to continue to exercise with confidence and gain all the benefits regular workouts can bring.

A chiropractor can help alleviate the pain of sports injuries and encourage corrective methods to reduce the risk of the injury coming again.

But it’s also been shown that chiropractors could bring an advantage to sports training in general, allowing people who use them to see larger gains and increased performance compared to those who don’t use them.

Lifting weights and seeing a chiropractor

In a 2009 study, researchers looked at the changes strength training brought to a group of women afflicted with fibromyalgia – a condition characterised by pain, muscle stiffness and fatigue throughout the body.

One set of women lifted weights and had treatment from chiropractors. The other group did the same training but went without treatment.

The results of the study showed that the women who trained and received chiropractic treatments were able to improve their balance, flexibility, coordination and strength, while the other group did not.

Taking care of joints

A major benefit of chiropractic treatments is that they encourage good joint health, allowing people to pursue their lifestyles while reducing afflictions such as shoulder pain, knee pain and neck stiffness.

With studies showing that seeing a chiropractor can enhance a person’s ability to exercise, it should be considered for inclusion in a regular workout schedule.
