Three conditions a chiropractor may (surprisingly) be able to treat

Chiropractors are traditionally thought of as working exclusively with the back and neck, treating disorders ranging from a slipped disc to whiplash. However, the body is connected in many unexpected ways, and there are a number of conditions a chiropractor may be able to treat that you may not have realised. These include:

1. Tension headache and migraine

Migraines and tension headaches are very debilitating and, for chronic sufferers, have a hugely detrimental impact on everyday life. What’s more, they are often mysterious and elusive conditions that are potentially difficult to treat through conventional medications and painkillers.

For some, spinal manipulation may be an effective way to treat migraines and headaches that radiate from the neck. Indeed, many headaches are related to tense neck muscles, particularly if the sufferer spends hours at a desk every day. A chiropractor will try to help alleviate the stress on the body and improve spinal function by performing spinal manipulation, potentially lowering the severity and frequency of debilitating headaches.

2. Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a hugely complex condition involving chronic pain and sensitivity that spreads throughout a person’s musculoskeletal system. It is also associated with long-term fatigue, sleep issues and a variety of other conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and various autoimmune diseases.

Unfortunately, the cause of fibromyalgia remains a mystery to medical professionals and the jury is out in regards to its origins. However, recent studies have suggested that some fibromyalgia patients may benefit from chiropractic adjustments combine with a technique known as ischemic compression. A chiropractor will attempt to reduce a sufferer’s overall pain by performing spinal adjustments that have a positive impact on their nervous system and potentially improve their quality of life.

3. Mental health issues

Stress and anxiety are increasingly common conditions in today’s hectic, uncertain world, and they are often difficult conditions to treat. To make things worse, many physical illnesses are exacerbated or brought on by stress, affecting our everyday quality of life and potentially causing long-term physical damage.

Chiropractors may be able to reduce stress by releasing muscle tension, reducing spinal nerve irritation, and improving blood circulation, thereby helping the body to manage and process unavoidable stress in a much healthier way.

Are you suffering from one of the above conditions? Why not allow one of our trained chiropractors to help relieve your symptoms? Book an appointment today.
